Alice Springs overlook

Aerial view of Uluru (formerly Ayers Rock) with Kata Tjuta in the distance.
When I visited, there were morning mists around the rock, so I could not take photos (this image is from
the Australia GeoSciences site). The surface of the rock has cyanobacteria (blue-green bacteria) patches that become
very slippery under damp conditions. Clicking the image takes you to the AustralianGeoSciences site.

Kata Tjuta (part of distant formation seen in previous image of Uluru.
Clicking the image takes you to the Australian GeoSciences information site.

Galahs resting and feeding at Alice Springs. The lower photo is an enlargement of the two birds at the right above.
The bird in the sun blends very well with its background of rocks, vegetation and soil.
