Morgan Dressage
Directory: Open Competition 1997Open Competiton 1996
The AMHA only presents the Open competiition Champions and sometimes
the Reserve Champions in the Morgan Horse Magazine. I think everyone who earns Open Competition Dressage awards
or United States Dressage Federation Dressage recognition has
worked very hard, not to mention has spent lotsa money.
Have you calculated just how much it cost to even qualify for
the awards? The feed, the stabling, the entry fees, the feed supplements,
the farrier, the vet bills, the trainers/clinics, the mucking
of the stalls, the grooming, the tack (which my Morgan Max likes
as a snack --see the Gruesome Brothers at Attitude Alley), the dressage clothes, the horse blankets
(Max has more clothes than I do), the laundry, the trailering
(Max has learned to pull out the pivot pins of the trailer partitions
on long trips)...
So I am posting competition results as I get them looked up each
year. The current year's awards will be posted on this page and
be moved to linked pages as each year passes. Be patient, this
is a lot of typing and reformatting for readability because I
am scanning the AMHA, AMHI or USDF report sheets and trying to
be accurate. Congratulations to all!
AMHA Open Competition Dressage Qualifying Requirements:
Five scores from the same level must be submitted. These scores
must be from at least four competitions and be from at least four
different American Horse Shows Association dressage judges. The
Morgan obtaining the highest median percentage from its top five
scores will be the winner of the level. Scores 55% or above count
toward a Morgan Medallion Award (8 scores in a specified set of
levels). |

The American Morgan Horse Institute, which puts on the Grand National & World Championship Horse Show, is the arm of our Morgan family which (operating under a tax
exempt status) provides the majority of our educational projects,
the NMMH, the World Morgan Futurity seminars, videos and clinics,
and the Morgan Headquarters building and complex in Shelburne,
Vermont. Those projects service the Morgan family and the Morgan
world at large. This year, as in the past, (thanks to the tireless
efforts of Dane Bettes who has overseen scholarships for many
years), $22,000 in scholarships was awarded to Morgan youth to
assist in their continuing education and future plans. So, when
you wonder in what ways our breed organization directly helps
you as a Morgan person, remember the AMHI and its projects. Source:
